Introducing WeatherRadio GWES Graphic

For enthusiasts, by enthusiasts with zero compromises. This was the guiding principle behind the development of GWES WeatherRadio, our brand-new public service built from the ground up. Inspired by other services, we’ve incorporated unique improvements to create the ideal platform for streaming your weather radio station and listening to those streamed stations.

WeatherRadio brings several quality-of-life improvements and no compromises on common complaints of other services. Security is a must, especially for a platform that can relay important weather and emergency information. This is why we are enforcing per-stream credentials with WeatherRadio. End users should not notice much of a difference, especially for those that provide a stream to our platform. Users can rely that any given stream cannot be easily hijacked by someone using the same shared password as everyone else.

A significant factor in our development process was our decision to embrace more modern technology and its capabilities. Moving to a more powerful cloud infrastructure allows us to ensure that WeatherRadio has zero rate limiting or IP bans just for utilizing our shared streams, as well as exceptional availability.

This is a significant advantage for those who wish to utilize automated monitoring software, since we will never block those activities.

You cannot have a service like this without having a web interface to go along with it. That is why we built WeatherRadio’s web interface from the ground up to be similar to our other services, such as the Central Alert Repository.

On the front page of WeatherRadio, you’ll find a map that displays the location information of any active stream’s transmitter on our platform, along with details about the transmitter. We have exciting plans to add many more features in the future, so stay tuned for any announcements from GWES. This is just the beginning.

As always with GWES services, you can rest assured that you won’t be charged for using this service, whether you’re streaming or listening.

Developers, we didn’t forget about you. More information will be provided as it becomes available on how to integrate WeatherRadio into your projects. For now, please email [email protected] with any questions you may have.
